The Beautiful Island of Sardinia

Travel to Sardinia
The island of
Sardinia, the second
largest in the
Mediterranean, is
225 miles west of
mainland Italy, and
can be easily reached
by air or by ferry.
For Americans
traveling to Sardinia,
the most frequent
connection cities are
Rome (FCO) and
Milan (Linate
Airport)

Villa Buon'Amici is
less than 10 miles
from Costa Smeralda
International
Airport (OLB),  the
home of Meridiana
Airlines, Italy's main
domestic air carrier.
The most frequent
flights...several
times daily, in fact...
originate from Milan
and Rome and take
35-45 minutes. (The
cost of a one-way
flight from Rome for
one adult is
approximately 90
euro.)

Meridiana also flies
several times per
week into Olbia from
Paris (CDG) and
London (Gatwick.)
Several other
European airlines
originating from
Germany and Spain
and Great Britain
also offer air service
to the island.

Ferry service to
Olbia and Golfo
Aranci, provided by
Moby Lines and
Tyrrhenia for
passengers and cars,
is extensive during
the summer months
and is a very
convenient method
of travel for those
who wish to combine
their Sardinian
vacation with a trip
to the mainland.
Boats departs from
Civitavecchia (30
miles north of
Rome), Livorno and
Genoa several times
daily.

For getting around
the island, a rental
car is a necessity.
Rental agencies (we
recommend
AutoEurope) are
next to the arrival
terminals at the
airport and at the
ferry dock in Olbia.
The Island
Sardinia is famous for its
pristine, white-sand beaches
and gorgeous, inlet-dotted
coastline.

Villa Buon'Amici is ideally
situated to take maximum
advantage of both. There are
over a half dozen beaches
with full facilities (including
parking) within a ten minute
drive.

Less than  five minutes away
is the mile-long
Lido di
Pittulongu,
with its
restaurants, equipment rental
services...even a late-night
disco. The Lido is home to the
famous Trattoria Rossi,
serving some of the freshest
seafood in the Mediterranean.

The beach at Bados...just
down the road... is
particularly suited for
families with small children.
Shallow waters ...pools of
turquoise, indigo and emerald
green...lap against the flat,
sandy shoreline.

A full-service restaurant and
snack shop operate into the
evening. In the summertime
the late sundown often  finds
families  remaining until after
9 o'clock.

Water sports, boat rental and
other recreational activities
are readily available.

Below, one of our favorite
places for an elegant dinner
by the sea, the Pellicano
D'Oro Hotel in Pittulongu.
